Basin Square

A new landmark

Plans for the second phase of Chesterfield Waterside - Basin Square, are well underway.

The exciting £75million mixed use first phase of Basin Square is of unprecedented scale for Chesterfield and will elevate the town, creating a sense of arrival and a new landmark.

Phase 1 of the Basin Square scheme will comprise:

  • Build to Rent Apartments - 310 1/2 bed apartments with ground floor retail circa 1500sqm
  • Multi-Storey Car Park - 442 spaces
  • Office Building - 4,000sqm of B1 and A1/A4
  • An 84-bed Hotel, plus ground floor A3/A4

Only 10 minutes from J29 of the M1 - The first phase of the Basin Square development will be located on the parcel of land to the south of the new canal basin and directly opposite Chesterfield railway station - a mainline station.

Basin Square not only offers investors and occupiers an ideal location and excellent connectivity to London, Leeds and Sheffield but it will be instrumental in creating a sense of arrival for travellers arriving from the train station

Basin Square and the newly converted canal basin form the heart of Chesterfield Waterside, and will be a new destination for Chesterfield; place to relax, meet friends and pass time in observing the stunning Barbara Hepworth Rosewall sculpture permanently sited there.

Offering a vibrant, multi-functional space, Basin Square is the exciting new venue for activities such as Jazz festivals, canal boating festivals, travelling international food markets, fun runs and event screens.

Central to Basin Square is the canal basin, which has already been developed ahead of construction of the exciting 58,800sqm development incorporating apartments and offices, a multi-storey car park, hotel and an exciting array of shops, bars and restaurants for the waterside community and visitors.

Linkages and gateways from Basin Square to Chesterfield town centre will seamlessly link the two destinations encouraging a thriving and diverse daytime and evening economy

Fittingly, the design of Basin Square is influenced by Birmingham's Brindley Place, named after James Brindley the designer of the Chesterfield canal alongside which the development is located.
