Peter smashes Funny Business fundraising target
Chesterfield Waterside boss Peter Swallow managed to make an audience of more than 400 people at Sheffield City Hall laugh out loud at the annual Funny Business event held on 20th October.
Although he didn’t bag the prize for the funniest act, however he did get a very special mention on the night for the most money raised out of the 10 budding stand-up acts.
Peter netted 60 donations raising nearly £7,000 for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, more than a third of the total amount raised. In total the event raised £18,273.71 of much needed funds for the Sheffield-based Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, smashing the £15,000 target originally set.
The prize for the funniest act on the night went to Chris Sexton, IT Director at The University of Sheffield who made the audience roar with laughter with her tale of a naked barn dance.
Deciding the fate of the contestants on the night were four high profile Sheffield figures; past contestant and Partner at Irwin Mitchell, Martin Loxley, CEO of Sheffield Forgemasters, Graham Honeyman, Chief Executive of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Sir Andrew Cash OBE and BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Paulette Edwards.
