New artisan food development planned for north of the town
Chesterfield Borough Council has approved the development of The Glass Yard project in the town, which will be constructed on the site of the former fire station opposite the Proact Stadium.
Central to the mixed-use development will be a barn-like building called The Batch House - inspired by the food and craft markets found in central Europe.
The Batch House will bring something completely new to Chesterfield’s growing food and drink sector and it will be located within walking distance of Chesterfield Waterside’s main residential area – The Park.
With its European artisan food and retail hall inspiration, The Batch House will accommodate artisan food producers and suppliers on the ground floor of the building along with restaurants, cafés and retailers.
The developers of The Glass Yard project, Blue Deer Ltd, have already gained interest from high-profile chefs looking to create new restaurants.
The Glass Yard will also be home to a business centre offering an innovative workspace for new and growing businesses.
Peter Swallow, Managing Director of Bolsterstone Plc, the company leading the Chesterfield Waterside project, commented on the development: “The Glass Yard represents further investment to the North of the town centre. The Batch House will add to both the lifestyle and amenities of residents living at Chesterfield Waterside.”
